Be Intentional with your time with Jesus

Everyone is busy. We all have things that we have to make time for, like work and school and family. In the hustle and bustle of life, it can be very easy to put our time with the Lord on the back-burner. Finals week is when I am the worst at doing this. I focus all my time working on projects and studying for tests that when I have some down time I spend it eating, sleeping or on my phone. This is also the time in my life when I have the most anxiety, worries, and honestly need to spend the most time with the Lord.
My advice to you is to think about when quiet time for you works best. I used to try to make time before I went to sleep to do my devotional and prayers. For me personally, this did not work. I would either fall asleep while working on it, rush through it, or just not do it because I was too exhausted. When I actually took a step back to analyze my life and how I operate, I found out that the morning was a time that worked best for me. I started waking up just 30 minutes earlier, and tried going to bed a little bit sooner. Now, my mornings look different, but I can tell a huge difference in my life. I get ready, make a pot of coffee, and spend time with the Lord through prayer and readings. I have found that by starting my mornings with God changes my entire day and attitude. I am more at peace throughout the day. If I feel troubled during the day, I will think back to what I read that morning or what I felt the Lord speaking to me. This does not work every morning and some mornings I have more time than others. But, I have found out that this routine fits best with me!
Be intentional.
Schedule time with Jesus. Purposely plan your day around time with the Lord. Find out what works best for developing your relationship with Jesus and do it. This could look like a daily devotional, Bible reading plans, journaling, or just simply opening your Bible and diving in on the page you opened to. Everyone is different on how they spend time with Jesus and everyone's schedule looks different. It is our job to make time with the Lord our main priority. So I encourage you to take a look at your schedule and your personality. Ask yourself if your quiet time with Jesus is intentional and purposeful or if you just add it in around your day-to-day schedule? If you are already being intentional, that is amazing and I am so happy for you! If not, take a look at your lifestyle and deliberately make time to grow your faith and relationship with Jesus. Find what works for you and stick to it. Don't get discoruaged if there are days when life gets in the way of your quiet time. Remember that tomorrow is a new day to get back on track. I promise you will see a difference in how much Jesus will multiply your time in all the other areas of life.
xoxo,
Madison
